Psychotherapy

Discover, grow and create possibilities for change

Psychotherapy can be considered as healing of the soul, from the Greek words Psyche (soul) and Therapeia (healing).  It is a process of healing the innermost parts of ourselves to create possibilities for change.

The Centre for Movement and Creative Arts in Psychotherapy offers a humanistic, integrative, creative, embodied approach to Psychotherapy. This allows you to work with talking alongside work with the body and movement and a range of creative arts media to explore difficult experiences and emotions and discover inner resources to create possibilities for change.

Who we work with

We work with people of all ages and walks of life who may be struggling with difficult emotions or experiences. For example, anxiety and depression, bereavement, trauma, abuse, eating disorders, physical illness, and major life transitions. We also work with people who just want to create change in their lives or understand themselves better.

During your Initial Consultation with a senior practitioner, you will have the opportunity to discuss the issues you are facing, the frequency and form of your therapy and the therapist who will best address your individual needs. You can ask any questions you have about the process and practicalities of being in therapy and decide whether individual or group therapy is most suitable for you.

How we work

Integrating the body, movement and creative arts within Psychotherapy creates the opportunity for you to explore difficult emotions and experiences by accessing emotions and insights that may be challenging to reach through verbal communication alone.  Underpinning this approach is an understanding of the connection between the mind and body and the impact of this on a person’s life and wellbeing. Central to the psychotherapeutic process is the developing relationship between you and the therapist.
